- Marnie MacKay Brehm, FCA
Since starting practice in 1981, Marnie has focused her accounting, tax and consulting services
on self-employed professionals in a variety of fields -- particularly dentists, physicians, lawyers, engineers and human resource professionals.
She enjoys assisting clients to structure their affairs to minimize and plan for their income taxes. When beneficial, this sometimes involves setting up of
Management and Hygiene Companies or Family Trusts. She also enjoys working with new and growing businesses, analyzing current results and planning for expansion
or changes in ownership. Marnie has taught numerous courses for the Institute of Chartered Accountants continuing professional education programmes. In 1994,
she was honoured as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA) for her contributions to the profession and the community, as past chair of the
Hamilton and District Chartered Accountants Association, the Hamilton Small Practitioners Discussion Group and the Industry-Education Council of
Hamilton-Wentworth, as well as her work on the Finance Advisory Committee of the
National Council of Girl Guides of Canada. As a member of the Hamilton Estate Planners Council and the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Hamilton Tax Discussion
Group, she has shown a continuing interest in retirement and estate planning for clients who are taking a pro-active approach to their future.
- Kathryn A. Smith, FCA
Kathryn became associated with the firm in 2004. She has performed assignments for business owners, professionals and entrepreneurs in a variety of capacities including performance of due diligence reviews on behalf of potential business purchasers, due diligence reviews and calculation of Net Family Property for division of matrimonial assets, restructuring of business entities, assistance with and preparation of divestiture plans for business, restructuring of family-owned businesses for estate and business succession planning, preparation of business plans and financial projections, representations for income tax appeals, and representations to
CRA relating to tax evasion. Kathryn received her BAS from Trent University and became a Chartered Accountant in 1984,
and was honoured as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants (FCA) in 2006 for her contributions to the community and
the profession as past-President of the Ancaster AM Rotary Club, Past-President of the Hamilton and District CA Association, and
Past-President of the Hamilton Estate Planners Council.
She has worked for individuals and businesses in industries
including: real estate, construction, medical, retail, hair salons,
trucking, auto parts distributors, landscape architects,
manufacturing companies, as well as assignments for Family Law
purposes. She has been a witness for taxpayers in Tax Court of
Canada appeals and has qualified as an expert witness in the Ontario
Court.
- Ann K. Lam, CA
Ann K. Lam, Accounting Manager, has 7 years experience with both
a national and a mid-sized accounting firm specializing in tax.
Since she joined us in 2005, she reviews and coordinates the
accounting and income tax work of our staff accountants
and is a key resource for our clients and staff on tax issues and
interfaces with Canada Revenue Agency as needed.
- Kathryn Cornelisse, CMA
Kathryn Cornelisse, a Staff Accountant, with 20 years experience in small and large businesses,
prepares Financial Statements, Personal and Corporate Tax Returns. She acts as a resource to clients, assisting with bookkeeping problems, questions and
assisting clients to balance and reconcile their books.
- Heather Allen, BBA
Heather Allen joined the firm in 2010 and prepares Financial Statements, Personal and Corporate Tax Returns.
- Lynne Vidal, CA
Lynne Vidal joined the firm in 2009. She
is a staff accountant with 10 years experience in accounting for
small and large businesses who prepares Financial Statements, and
Personal and Corporate Tax Returns.
- Celia Meikle, CA, CPA, M.Sc. Accounting
Celia Meikle joined the firm in 2010 after more than eleven years of financial
controllership and internal audit and over four years in public accounting. Celia prepares and reviews financial statements and corporate and personal tax returns.
- Heather Tinker, B.Comm.
Heather Tinker, a Staff Accountant, has been working with Marnie since 1990 preparing
Financial Statements, Personal and Corporate Tax Returns, T4's and T5's. Heather acts as a resource to clients and their bookkeepers with specific
bookkeeping problems and questions, assists clients to balance and reconcile their books, and provides training and assistance on computerized accounting
systems.
- Jane Yang Yu, B.A.
Jane Yang Yu joined the firm in September, 2004. She received a B. A. in Economics and worked as
an accountant in China before coming to Canada. She is a CGA level 5 student. Jane prepares Financial Statements, Personal and Corporate Tax Returns, T4's
and T5's and does monthly bookkeeping for some clients.
- Nancy Cramer
Nancy Cramer joined the firm in December, 2009. She received an accounting diploma from McMaster University.
Nancy has worked in the financial and administrative areas for several small businesses during her career. She prepares Financial Statements, Tax Returns, and T4's.
- Maria Mancinelli
Maria Mancinelli joined the firm in 2007 as Client Service Coordinator. Maria helps
us to optimize client service by coordinating responses to client inquiries, tracking the work in the system, expediting and assembling completed
financial statements and making client appointments. Maria has attended Sheridan College in business and accounting.
- Michelle Celi
Michelle Celi
joined MBS in 2006. Michelle also does bookkeeping for clients as needed.
- Jeanne Woodcroft, B. Sc. Math.
Jeanne Woodcroft, B. Sc. Math., has worked for the firm since the 2001 tax season assisting in
administrative procedures, and in preparation and assembly of personal income tax returns. Jeanne is an Ontario Certified Teacher who tutors secondary school math in her spare time.

Maureen Hawboldt
Maureen Hawboldt joined the firm in February 2008 as an Executive Assistant.
During tax season she expedites and assembles completed financial statements and tax returns and makes client appointments.
- Lorie Warren
Lorie Warren has worked for the firm for 17 years
in a variety of administrative roles, during tax season she expedites and assembles completed financial statements and tax returns.
- William Brehm, MUP, AICP
Officially retired, Bill remains
a resource to the practice helping with strategic planning
and managing the Internet Website. When clients need advice concerning practice relocation, site selection, or
planning of real estate investments, Bill's expertise is available for consultation. He also has substantial experience consulting to the Non-profit sector in
areas of needs assessment and strategic planning. Bill is an accomplished artist who works in oil and watercolour and several of his works
